oscars

I thought the oscars were pretty predictable this year - and although I liked The Departed - I still would have voted for Babel over Departed. It sems that the "academy" decided it was time to scorsese to finally win. It almost seems like an award for his career rather than this particular film.

Not that I am not a Scorsese fan. I am.

But departed over babel. No.

Ellen was actually pretty funny - although not knowing where Penelope Cruz is from was a little embarassing. She did appologize. And the announcer when refering to Infernal Affairs said that film was from Japan - in a year that supposedly was so international - these were two high profile mistakes on a show that a lot of people were watching.

And what's with Gore - man. I thought there was a little "too much" of him on the show. ANd if food is energy. He might want to think of energy conservation of another kind as well.

Jenifer Hudson over Rinko Kikuchi. No way.

Helen Miren winning was predictable. Although I thought Judi Dench in Notes was more standout. Def darker. Juicier.

Wil Farrel and gang were hilarious. :)
